About Denis Jelcic

Denis Jelcic is a seasoned sports administrator, business owner, and community mentor with a career spanning over three decades. His leadership as General Manager of the Inline Skating Club of America has shaped one of New Jersey’s premier indoor sports facilities. At the same time, his service with the New York Rangers Fan Engagement Department and Madison Square Garden highlights a lifelong dedication to sport, people, and purpose.

Denis blends hands-on experience with a deep understanding of recreation management, league coordination, and player development. But what really stands out in his story is his continuous effort to give back‒whether through high school officiating, coaching youth teams, or creating memorable fan experiences in professional arenas. A fixture in local and professional sports, he brings not just skills but also a genuine love of the game.

A Solid Foundation Built on Hard Work and Dedication

Denis Jelcic’s work ethic was shaped early. From the age of 14, he held both part-time and full-time jobs, learning the value of persistence and effort. Alongside work, he immersed himself in athletics as a volunteer coach, official, and youth league organizer.

These early roles laid a strong foundation for Denis’ future career. Whether helping run a local tournament or making calls from behind the plate, he learned that every contribution mattered. When the chance came after college to assist in operating a recreational facility, he stepped in without hesitation. That opportunity marked the beginning of a career rooted in service, structure, and sport.

Shaping Leadership Through Academic Growth

Denis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City in June 1998. His academic path was further enriched by completing coursework in Education Administration at Montclair State University.

These experiences sharpened his leadership mindset and prepared him for the organizational demands of managing both people and programs within the sports world.

A Career Rooted in Sport, Service, and Strategy

From 1990 to 2000, Denis served as a coach, official, and program director at Cliffside Park Recreation in New Jersey. He created and led an inline roller hockey program from the ground up, managed day-to-day operations, scheduled games, and ensured smooth league functionality.

During this period, Denis coached and officiated basketball, soccer, baseball, and roller hockey while mentoring young athletes and training other officials.

In 1999, he became the General Manager of the Inline Skating Club of America in North Arlington, New Jersey, a role he continues to hold. Under his leadership, the club has become a cornerstone of regional athletics. He’s overseen daily operations, expanded programming to include multiple sports, and streamlined scheduling systems for leagues and events.

From 2014 to 2020, Denis brought his talents to Lyndhurst Public Schools, where he worked as an Assistant to the Athletic Director. He handled everything from uniform distribution to event coordination and budgeting. Denis also played a key role in fundraising and alumni relations.

In 2020, Denis took on a new challenge with Madison Square Garden as a part-time uniform distribution attendant and hockey program instructor. He managed inventory systems, supported event planning, and, most importantly, brought his passion for hockey into fan engagement programs.

Passion and Opportunity Meet on Sports’ Biggest Stage

When COVID-19 halted operations at the Inline Skating Club of America, Denis didn’t sit idle. He joined Madison Square Garden in 2020, initially working in uniform distribution. From scanning garments to maintaining department operations, he committed fully to supporting staff and keeping things organized behind the scenes.

However, one opportunity stood out‒a part-time hockey instructor position in the Rangers Fan Engagement Department. Denis pursued it enthusiastically, secured the role, and has since brought energy and mentorship to every interaction. For the lifelong sports lover, being part of MSG isn’t just a job; it’s a source of pride, a platform to give back, and a chapter in his career that he holds in high regard.

Three Decades of Dedication and Business Longevity

One of Denis’s proudest achievements is the longevity of his business. Since 1995, the facility he co-owns in North Jersey has served the community through sports leagues, events, and recreation programs. Thirty years in operation speaks volumes about the consistency, leadership, and passion behind it.

A Lifelong Commitment to Community and Sport

Sports have always been at the heart of Denis’s life. Since the age of 15, he’s been involved in coaching, officiating, and managing recreation programs. His love for basketball, soccer, and softball has never waned, and his continued support for town leagues shows a deep, personal investment in youth development and community engagement.

Denis Jelcic’s career reflects a life centered on teamwork, mentorship, and purpose. Whether officiating a high school game, organizing a youth tournament, or inspiring fans at Madison Square Garden, he carries himself with respect, dedication, and humility. His contributions to sports at both local and professional levels have earned him a reputation for reliability, leadership, and heart.
