About Denis Jelcic
Denis Jelcic is a seasoned sports administrator, business owner, and community mentor with a career spanning over three decades. His leadership as General Manager of the Inline Skating Club of America has shaped one of New Jersey’s premier indoor sports facilities. At the same time, his service with the New York Rangers Fan Engagement Department and Madison Square Garden highlights a lifelong dedication to sport, people, and purpose.
Denis blends hands-on experience with a deep understanding of recreation management, league coordination, and player development. But what really stands out in his story is his continuous effort to give back‒whether through high school officiating, coaching youth teams, or creating memorable fan experiences in professional arenas. A fixture in local and professional sports, he brings not just skills but also a genuine love of the game.
Denis Jelcic’s work ethic was shaped early. From the age of 14, he held both part-time and full-time jobs, learning the value of persistence and effort. Alongside work, he immersed himself in athletics as a volunteer coach, official, and youth league organizer.
These early roles laid a strong foundation for Denis’ future career. Whether helping run a local tournament or making calls from behind the plate, he learned that every contribution mattered. When the chance came after college to assist in operating a recreational facility, he stepped in without hesitation. That opportunity marked the beginning of a career rooted in service, structure, and sport.
Denis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City in June 1998. His academic path was further enriched by completing coursework in Education Administration at Montclair State University.
These experiences sharpened his leadership mindset and prepared him for the organizational demands of managing both people and programs within the sports world.
From 1990 to 2000, Denis served as a coach, official, and program director at Cliffside Park Recreation in New Jersey. He created and led an inline roller hockey program from the ground up, managed day-to-day operations, scheduled games, and ensured smooth league functionality.
During this period, Denis coached and officiated basketball, soccer, baseball, and roller hockey while mentoring young athletes and training other officials.
In 1999, he became the General Manager of the Inline Skating Club of America in North Arlington, New Jersey, a role he continues to hold. Under his leadership, the club has become a cornerstone of regional athletics. He’s overseen daily operations, expanded programming to include multiple sports, and streamlined scheduling systems for leagues and events.
From 2014 to 2020, Denis brought his talents to Lyndhurst Public Schools, where he worked as an Assistant to the Athletic Director. He handled everything from uniform distribution to event coordination and budgeting. Denis also played a key role in fundraising and alumni relations.
